motivation
The term pastiche aptly represents the ideas of collaboration, reuse, distributed organisation and emergence. It is also used with a non-negligible amount of irony ;-)

pastiche \pas-TEESH; pahs-\, noun:
- A work of art that imitates the style of some previous work.
- A musical, literary, or artistic composition consisting of selections from various works.
- A hodgepodge; an incongruous combination of different styles and ingredients.
logo
The basic idea for a pastiche logo was to create an image without a center where different aspects meet and overlap. As shown in the image below, the result is a detail from transparent overlapping squares that are organised in an endlessly repetitive pattern, each with a different offset. The most appealing four by four detail pattern was chosen to represent the idea of pastiche.
